The Haitian children the forgotten one.

The Island of Hispaniola, shared by Haiti and Di=ominican Repulic,Seismically active and has a history of destructive Earthquake.During Haiti's time as French Colony, Earthquakes were recorded by French Historian Moreau de Saint- Mery(1750-1859)He described damages done by an Earthquake in 1751 writing that"only one masonry building had not collapsed"in Port-au-Prince, he also wrote the whole city of Port-au-Prince collapsed in the earthquake of 1770,the Cap Haitian,and other towns in the north of Haiti and the Dominican Repuplic also the sans -souci palace were destroyed.Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and is ranked 149 of 182 countries on the human development index. Helping The Children of Haiti

Haiti has suffered a great deal over many years and recently with an outbreak of Cholera. This waterborne disease is disseminating a population which has been trying to recover from the effects of a 7.0 magnitude earthquake in January 2010, which devastated the area.

Rice Smile's focus is on helping children. We have been providing food, clothes, shelter and education to children since 1995. The earthquake caused damage to our school building and vehicle. Money and food and clean drinking water are the major problems. Funds are slow in coming from Washington D.C.

We are a small ministry and serve about 300 children.

We need your help. In the coming days, we'll write more about what we do, our challenges and how we directly impact the lives of the future leaders of Haiti.
